Members of the Kempston Climate Change Group organised two information and awareness stalls during October. The focus of both events was raising awareness of recycling, in particular the recycling of items which are often missed – so called ‘missed capture’. This was in line with the National Recycling Week’s annual campaign ‘The Big Recycling Hunt’. The first stall was held at Bedford South Wing Hospital on Thurs 5th October, and we are grateful to the Hospital for letting us have access to this space. We have some fantastic conversations with hospital staff and visitors and were able to pass on information on at least one new local recycling possibility to almost everyone who stopped by.

The second stall was held as part of St Andrew’s Church’s first Green Fayre on 28th October. We are very grateful to Reverend Lucy for inviting us along! This was a fantastic opportunity to meet many members of the public but also network with a range of other local environmental and climate groups. St Andrew’s is doing fantastic work on it’s own carbon footprint and church members were on hand to demonstrate some of their many current initiatives.

It was wonderful that Bedford and Kempston MP Mohammad Yasin could join us for both of these events. He is pictured below with group members at the Hospital stall.

Our friends from the Kempston Green Man Community Garden attended both events and showcased photos of their recent projects, along with giving away drought-hardy and carbon-capturing sedum plants.
