By Rev Andrea Maffei, KCCG member and Vicar of the Church of the Transfiguration, Kempston

The Transfiguration Church has enrolled with the A Rocha programme which helps churches examine how environmentally friendly they are in different aspects. These include upkeep of churchyards, our worship, community links and the building itself. There are bronze, silver and gold standards to aim towards and at the moment we are at silver level, we hope to improve further.

Transfiguration Church has been focussing on renewing one of it’s “marks of mission”, namely Caring for Creation.
Aspects we are aiming for include careful wildflower planting to encourage different butterflies, improving recycling in church and hall and eliminating chemical cleaning products. We also hope to build on community links with groups focussed on the environment and climate change.
