A swish event is a chance to swap good quality items which are no longer needed amongst the local community. People exchange items brought along for tokens, which can then be exchanged for items that others have brought along. It’s a great way to give items a new home, whilst also reducing waste.
Kempston Climate Change Group are organising a Swish event for adult and children’s clothes, children’s toys, plants and seeds on Saturday 27th April 2024 between 10am and 2pm. This will be held at the Transfiguration Church, 132 Bedford Road MK42 8BQ.
Entrance is free but additional tokens will be available for purchase at £1 each (cash only). A children’s activities area will be available, along with refreshments for purchase.
The first 30 minutes of the day will be a chance to browse items, with swapping commencing from 10.30 onwards.
A maximum of 10 items can be brought along in total and all items will be checked for condition upon arrival by the organisers before tokens are issued. Clothing should be clean and in good quality, wearable condition. Toys should be CE marked and all plants should be labelled. It will not be possible to swap electrical items, toys with cords over 30cm, car seats, baby slings or other safety equipment, or food items, such as baby milk formula.
